WorldSkills is the global competition for vocational skills – an international event that brings together the best young professionals aged 16 to 22 (up to 25 in some categories) from more than 80 countries.

Every two years, participants take part in demanding practical tests held in highly professional environments that replicate real working conditions. The competition requires precision, technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a strong hands-on approach.

In South Tyrol, the qualifying rounds for the WorldSkills Competition take place during the Provincial Skills Competition. The top-ranked participants in each category qualify for the international event.

The team competes under the official name WorldSkills South Tyrol, Italy, representing the professional excellence of the region on the global stage.

WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

The 48th edition of the WorldSkills Competition will take place from 22 to 27 September 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai, China. With an exhibition area of approximately 360,000 m², the NECC is one of the largest exhibition centres in the world.

WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 will bring together more than 1,400 young professionals from 73 of the 90 WorldSkills Member countries and regions, who will compete in 64 skills – a record number – and showcase their expertise on the world’s largest stage for vocational skills. They will be accompanied by more than 1,300 experts, and over 250,000 visitors are expected to attend the event.

Team WorldSkills South Tyrol, Italy will participate with 15 young competitors across 13 skills, accompanied by their experts. For the South Tyrolean competitors, WorldSkills will be an important opportunity to compete alongside the best young professionals from around the world and showcase their skills at the highest international level.
