Painting and decorating

What they do:

Painters and decorators protect, maintain, and enhance buildings, both indoors and outdoors. They treat wooden and metal elements such as roofs, cladding, windows, doors, gates, and balconies using coatings and paints that preserve surfaces and improve their durability and appearance.

Through the use of colour, decorative techniques, and materials such as wallpaper, they transform interiors and façades, creating visually appealing and comfortable spaces. Their work also contributes to the overall appearance of buildings and urban environments.

Their tasks include painting and coating metal surfaces such as railings, gates, and grilles, as well as creating signage and decorative elements. They may also carry out drywall and insulation work. In the field of heritage restoration, they assess and prepare surfaces – checking factors such as moisture and stability – and carefully match colours to existing structures or interior designs.

Paints and coatings are applied using a range of professional techniques and tools, including brushes, rollers, and spray systems, always following industry standards.

Painters and decorators plan, coordinate, and document their work, calculate materials, time, and costs, and ensure high-quality results. They work independently or as part of a team, organise resources efficiently, and carry out quality control throughout the process.
